Disassemble the dead end section by following the steps outlined:
o Remove the two setscrews (5) that secure the flipper block (6) to the support
bar (7). Remove the two cotter pins (8) and flat washers, and drive out the
support bar (7). Remove the flipper block from the dead end section (1) and
o Remove the three screws (10) from the bottom wear strip (11) and the twenty
screws (12) from the side wear strips (13 and 14). Pry the wear strips off
the dead end section.
Discard the wear strips (11, 13, and 14) and screws
(10 and 12).
o Pry the rubber strip (15) from the underside surface of the dead end section
(1) and discard the rubber strip.
o Remove the two screws (17), lockwashers (19), nuts (20), four flat washers,
and two pins (16). Discard the lockwashers.
o Remove the two screws (21), flat washers (22), lockwashers (23), and latch
(24). Discard the lockwashers.
Assemble the dead end section by following the steps outlined:
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent (PD-680) is toxic and flammable.
To
prevent personal injury when using PD-680, use only in a
well ventilated area. Avoid breathing the vapors. If you
become dizzy, get fresh air immediately and seek medical
attention.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing.
Use protective goggles, gloves, and clothing.
If contact
is made immediately flush with water and seek medical
attention. The flashpoint for Type I dry cleaning solvent
is 100F (38C); for Type II it is 138F (50C).
Do not
use near a open flame or excessive heat.
o Thoroughly clean the wear strip mounting surfaces of the dead end section (1)
with dry cleaning solvent (Item 19, Appx. D) and clean, dry rags (Item 50,
Appx. D). Ensure all particles are removed.
