Inspecting the Powerplant, Fuel, Electrical and Brake System
a.
(1) Engine.
(a) Inspect the engine mount rubber cushion ring for cracks, wear, and loss of
resiliency. Replace the rubber cushion ring if it shows any of these defects.
(b) Inspect the oil filter inlet and outlet openings for damaged threads.
Replace the oil filter if it has damaged threads.
(c) Inspect the case and cover for dents that may cause the oil filter to leak
between the case and cover. Replace the oil filter if this exists.
(d) Inspect the oil hoses for worn spots and damaged threads in nuts.
Replace
the hoses that show either of these defects.
(e) Wipe inside of the case until it is clean.
(f) Inspect the drain tubes and hoses for cracks, corrosion, and restricted
air flow.
Replace damaged drain tubes or hoses and remove corrosion, if it is
present, from the drain tubes.
(g) Inspect the crankcase breather collector can and mounting bracket for
cracks, dents, and missing or bent tabs. Remove dents, straighten tabs. Replace
the collector can or mounting bracket that is cracked or has missing tabs.
(h) Inspect the engine crankcase breather tube for cracks and deformation.
Replace the tube if it shows either of these defects.
(i) Inspect the engine oil filler cap for cracks and deformation.
Replace the
filler cap if it shows either of these defects.
(j) Inspect the engine oil level gage rod for excessive wear and deformation.
Replace the gage rod if it shows either of these defects.
(k) Inspect the engine oil cooler housing for cracks, nicks, damaged threads,
and evidence of
