Replace the oil cooler housing if it shows any one of these defects.
(l) Inspect the oil cooler core for deformation, cracks, nicks, leaks, and
excessive corrosion between the cooling fins. Replace the core if it shows any one
of these defects.
(m) Inspect the engine exhaust manifold for cracks and warped
machined
surfaces. Replace the manifold if it shows either of these defects.
(2) Transmission.
(a) Inspect the transmission oil hose assemblies for cracks, indications of
oil seepage through the hose, and badly worn hoses and damaged end connections.
Replace the hose assembly if it shows any sign of these defects.
(b) Inspect the elbows and tees for cracks and damaged threads.
Replace the
elbow or tee that shows either of these defects.
(c) Inspect the oil cooler core for deformation, cracks, leaks, and excessive
corrosion between the cooling fins.
Replace the core if it shows any of these
defects.
(d) Inspect the transmission oil filter cover for cracks or deformation that
may cause leakage. Replace the cover if it shows either of these defects.
(e) Inspect the transmission vent
tube nuts, oil cap, and gage rod for
excessive wear, cracks, and deformation.
Replace the vent tube or oil cap and gage
rod that shows any of these defects.
(f) Inspect the transmission range selector prior to removal for cracks,
breaks, distortion, chipped handle, and worn shaft.
Replace selector that shows
any of these defects.
(g) Inspect all threaded parts of the range selector for burred or damaged
threads. Remove burrs. Replace parts that have damaged threads.
(h) Inspect the bearings of the range selector for rough and uneven rotation,
wear, grooves, and scratches. Replace bearings that show any of these defects.
