(b) Continuity Tests. Continuity is a resistance of less than 1.0 ohm between
test points. Continuity should be present and is a normal condition. Continuity
tests check for a break in a circuit component (such as a switch or electrical
cable).
1 Performing a Continuity Test. The procedure for testing continuity is
identical for all three types of multimeters.
a Before making a test for continuity, the
multimeter
must
be
mechanically zeroed. Then, it must be electrically zeroed.
CAUTION
Failure to perform the following step may result in damage
to the multimeter.
b Place the MASTER BATTERY switch in the OFF position. Disconnect the
circuit that is being tested. To be safe, disconnect the battery ground strap.
c Connect the meter probes to both terminals of the circuit being
tested.
