(b) Inspect threaded parts for burred or
damaged threads.
Remove burrs.
Replace parts that have damaged threads.
(c) Inspect the front bilge pump sight glass for cracks, discoloration, or
leaks. Replace the sight glass if it shows any of these defects.
d.
Brake System.
(1) Pivot Steer Brake Control.
(a) Inspect rods and bearing ends for distortion, cracks, and damaged threads.
If damage cannot be repaired, replace defective parts.
(b) Inspect bearings for scored, pitted or chipped races, excessive wear, and
uneven rotation. Replace bearings that show any of these defects.
(c) Inspect clevises, bellcranks, handles, bracket, and
straight pins for
cracks, nicks, burrs, and excessive wear at contact surfaces.
Remove burrs.
If
damage cannot be repaired, replace defective parts.
(d) Inspect springs for broken tangs, wear, and loss of tension.
Replace any
defective springs.
(e) Inspect the bellows for loss of resiliency, cracks, and wear.
Replace the
bellows if any one of these defects are found.
(2) Pivot Steer Brake Master Cylinders.
(a) Inspect the master cylinder and filler cap for cracks, breaks,
and
deformation. Replace cylinder or filler cap that shows any of these defects.
(b) Inspect the bellows for loss of resiliency, cracks, and wear.
Replace
bellows if it shows any of these defects.
(3) Pivot Steer Brake Tubes, Hoses, and Fittings.
(a) Inspect tubes and hoses for wear and cracks.
Replace tubes or hoses that
show either of these defects.
