and develops adequate cranking speed. Listen for unusual noises in the engine and

(b) Oil Level of Engine, Transmission,
Differential,
Final
Drives,
and
Transfer Gearcase - PMCS Procedure.
NOTE
If the engine, transmission, and differential are scheduled
for oil change, drain when hot (after operation).
Before starting the engine, check that the engine oil level is to the FULL mark on
the gage rod, and the transmission and differential have sufficient oil for
operation.
NOTE
Operating range on the level gage rods is between the FULL
and ADD marks. Oil must be added when level is at or below
ADD mark.
ENGINE
Place the carrier on comparatively level ground.
Start and operate the engine
until normal operating temperature (160 to 200 degrees F) is reached.
Stop the
engine, check the oil level, and add oil as required.
TRANSMISSION
Start and operate the engine at 1,000 rpms for three to five minutes with the shift
lever in 2-3 position and the brakes are locked.
Return the shift lever to
NEUTRAL, and check the transmission oil level with the engine operating at 1,500
rpm. Add oil as required to bring the level to the FULL mark.
