accessory gearbox lifting sling by installing the shackle (3) in

the

fourth hole (4) from the bar end (5) of the sling (1). Insert

the

hook of the hoist (6) through the sling's shackle (3) so the bar

(5)

is on the left side of the engine (fig. 1-38).

Then, you must clean out the four holes (9) in the module (2),

remove the four bolts (7) from the eyebolts (8), and install the

eyebolts through the holes in the module. Next, install the nuts on

the eyebolts, tighten the nuts until they are about one inch up on

the eyebolts, and take the slack out of the sling cables (10) (fig.

1-38).

Prepare the Accessory Gearbox for Removal.

Start this process by

unhooking the spring (1) from the bracket (2) attached to the

gearbox.

After you have unhooked the spring, cut the safety wire

from the two blots (3) and remove the bolts.

Then, remove the

lockpin (4) from the flange (5) or bushing (6) on the inside flange

(7) on both sides of the engine (8).

After you have removed the

lockpins, use the gearbox dowel pin mechanical puller (10) to remove

the dowel pin (9) from each side of the engine (fig. 1-39).

CAUTION

AFTER REMOVING THE DOWEL PINS, THE MODULE WILL BE

LOOSE.

LOWER THE MODULE SLOWLY TO MAKE SURE THE

SPLINES AND SHAFT ARE NOT DAMAGED.
