Establishing the Correct Equipment Condition.
To establish the correct equipment condition, you must remove or
disconnect other components or parts that interfere with the ground
hop procedures.
You must meet two equipment conditions before you
can ground hop the powerpack:
(1) powerpack removed from the tank,
which you accomplished in part A of this lesson; (2) if the engine
has a fuel nozzle with one filter, you must remove the electro-
mechanical fuel system to fuel nozzle tube assembly in accordance
with TM 9-2350-264-20-1.
WARNING
Do not fuel drain on hot engine.
Fuel can catch fire and cause
injury or death.
WARNING
ENGINE NOISE CAN DAMAGE YOUR EARS.
BE SURE TO USE EAR
PLUGS.
3.
Powerpack Ground Hop Procedures.
The ground hop procedures require a total of four people.
Whenever
possible, you should ground hop the powerpack inside a building with
clean, dust-free floors.
The following paragraphs describe the
procedures for preparation of the powerpack for the ground hop and
the actual ground hop procedures.
CAUTION
FAILURE TO REMOVE THE HYDRAULIC CENTRIFUGAL PUMP CAUSES THE
PUMP TO RUN DRY AND BE DAMAGED.
a. Remove the Hydraulic Pump and Install the Hydraulic Test
Cover. You remove the hydraulic pump and install the hydraulic test
cover following the steps given below:
Loosen the two rear nuts (2) and the front nut (3) from the
studs (4) until 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch of
