o To open the upper rear door, firmly press the button on the right
side of the ballistic shield directional control valve.
o To close the upper rear door, firmly press the button on the left
side of the ballistic shield directional control valve.

Securing the Backup Hydraulic System Pump.
The procedure outlined below must be followed to ensure that personal
injury or equipment damage does not occur:
o Push the throttle lever for the main engine fully forward and
idle the main engine for 3 to 5 minutes.
o Push in the selector valve on the manual hydraulic pump (Fig.
3F).
o Open the dump valve on the manual hydraulic pump (Fig. 3F).
The next part of this subcourse describes the maintenance procedures for
the components of the hydraulic system.
PART D - MAINTENANCE OF THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS
1.
General.
There are safety items and important procedure steps that will apply
throughout the maintenance of the hydraulic system components.
WARNING
Shut down all systems and turn the MASTER switch OFF.
The
hydraulic fluid may be hot.
o Prior to beginning the maintenance procedures, shut down all
systems and turn the MASTER switch to the OFF position. If the
hydraulic system has been in operation recently, the hydraulic
fluid may be hot. If possible, allow the fluid to cool prior to
performing maintenance. If you do not follow these procedures,
personnel injury or equipment damage could occur.
