When you have performed an inspection of the engine AFES T/A panel for
serviceability, install the removed components using the reverse procedures
of removal.
Turn the engine AFES T/A panel MAINTenance switch to the
horizontal position (power on).
The crew AFES T/A panel and the SCEA are the second and third items to be
removed. You will perform this task by using Figure 30 and the below listed
procedures.
WARNING
Turn the crew T/A panel MAINTenance switch to the
vertical position.
Make sure the locking pins are
installed in the valve actuator guards of the crew
extinguisher cylinder bottles no. 1 and no. 2
(vehicles 1 through 344) and no. 1, no. 2, no. 5, and
no. 6 (vehicles 345 and above).
Install the locking
pins in valve actuator guards of extinguisher cylinder
bottles no. 3 and no. 4. Now install the anti-recoil
plugs in the discharge port of each crew compartment
extinguisher bottle.
o The crew APES is now deactivated and you begin removing the crew
AFES T/A panel by disconnecting the wiring harness plug (Item 5)
from the crew AFES T/A panel.
o Now support the crew T/A panel and at the same time, remove four
screws (Item 6), four lockwashers (Item 7), and four flat washers
(Item 8) which secure the panel to the hull. Remove the crew AFES
T/A panel and ensure you discard the removed lockwashers.
o You can now accomplish the task of removing the SCEA by
disconnecting three wiring harness plugs (Item 4) from the SCEA unit
(Item 1).
o Supporting the SCEA, remove two screws (Item 2) and two lockwashers
(Item 3) which secures the unit to the hull. Remove the SCEA and
discard removed lockwashers.
o Install the crew AFES T/A panel and the SCEA unit using the reverse
of the removal procedure.
