(b) Find the problem with the item.
The problem to be rectified in this example is, ENGINE DOES NOT DEVELOP
FULL POWER, which would be found on TM page 2-42.
Step 1.
Check for a restricted air cleaner element.
If the air cleaner element needs corrective action, service the element.
If the
element is restricted, it should be replaced.
If the air cleaner does not need servicing and is not restricted, proceed to step
2.
Step 2.
Check to see if the exhaust valve is properly adjusted.
If the exhaust valve is not properly adjusted, notify intermediate direct support
maintenance.
Step 3.
Check the adjustment of the throttle.
If the throttle is not adjusted properly, adjust it (TM, para 2-70).
If the throttle is properly adjusted, proceed to step 4.
Step 4.
Check for faulty injectors or incorrect injector and rack timing.
If the injector and rack timing is incorrect, notify intermediate direct support
personnel.
If the injector and rack timing is correct, proceed to step 5.
Step 5.
Check for proper governor adjustment.
If the governor is out of adjustment, notify intermediate direct support personnel.
If the governor is properly adjusted, proceed to step 6.
Step 6.
Check fuel flow through the return line for a fuel line being restricted.
