Troubleshooting procedures at the
operator/crews level are explained in Chapter 3, Section III, of TM 9-2350-261-10.
Pages 3-2 through 3-22 list common malfunctions which could be found during
operation
or
maintenance
of
the
M113A1/A2
and
its
components.
The
tests/inspections and corrective actions should be performed in the order listed.
The 10 manual cannot list all malfunctions that may occur, nor all the tests and/or
inspections and corrective actions.
If a malfunction is not listed or is not
corrected by the listed actions in this manual, the maintenance supervisor should
be notified.
The action to correct this example of a malfunction to the engine, specifically:
ENGINE CRANKS BUT DOESN'T START, is as follows:
Step 1.
Check to see if fuel cutoff control handle is pulled out.
Push the fuel cutoff control handle in.

Check to see if there is enough fuel in the internal tank (figure 8 on
the following page).
Check to see if there is enough fuel in the external tank (figure 9 on the
following page).
Refuel carrier.
