(b) Batteries - PMCS Procedure.
Clean batteries and box; repaint box and cover with acid-resistant paint if
corroded. Replace batteries having leaks or cracked cases. Remove caps and clean
vents. Test specific gravity with hydrometer. Add water to bring to proper level.
Clean cable terminals, bolts, and post.
Tighten terminals and hold down bolts
carefully to avoid damage to batteries, then lightly coat the terminals with
grease.
(c) Electrical Wiring, Interior Light, and Switches - PMCS Procedure.
Tighten electrical connections, radio noise suppression straps, and component
mounting bracket screws.
Tape frayed harness and replace missing or defective
chassis grommets and connections.
Secure, repair, or replace lights and switches
that are insecurely mounted, inoperative, or damaged.
(d) Instruments, Gages, and Warning Lights - PMCS Procedure.
Repair or replace broken or
inoperative gages, instruments, and warning indicators.
(4) Brake.
(a) Differential Steering and Brakes - PMCS Procedure.
Operate steering levers and check for satisfactory steering response.
With the
carrier operating at moderate speed and steering levers released, check for any
tendency to wander or pull to one side.
Release accelerator and apply brakes,
checking if the carrier stops effectively without pulling to one side.
With the
carrier stopped on an incline, pull back on the steer levers, depress the lock
buttons, and move the transmission shift lever to N (neutral) position.
Check
whether the brakes lock securely and the carrier is held in place.
preventive maintenance checks and services are performed or supervised by the unit
repairman, in addition to any maintenance required as a result of inspections or
services by the operator.
