WARNING
DO NOT START THE POWERPACK WITHOUT AN OBSERVER.
THE
OBSERVER MUST STAND WHERE OTHER SOLDIERS CAN SEE HIM.
THE TANK DRIVER MUST NOT LEAVE THE DRIVER'S COMPARTMENT
WHILE THE POWERPACK IS RUNNING.
THE DRIVER MUST SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE WHEN THE MASTER
WARNING LIGHT COMES ON DURING GROUND HOP PROCEDURES.
PERSONNEL MAY BE INJURED IF THE ENGINE IS NOT SHUT DOWN.
OPERATE THE POWERPACK
IN WELL VENTILATED AREAS ONLY.
MAKE SURE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GAGE, ON THE DRIVER'S
INSTRUMENT PANEL, INDICATES 18 VOLTS OR HIGHER TO AVOID
DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE WHEN IT IS STARTED.
h. Inspect the Ground Hop Pressure Filter.
The window on the
ground hop pressure filter must show green for the engine to have the
correct air flow.
You must visually inspect the window (3) on filter (2)(fig.
1-31).
If the window on the filter shows green, continue
with the ground hop procedures.
If the window on the
filter shows any other color than green, shut down the
engine and clean the filter according to TM 9-2350-264-20-
1.
After cleaning the filter, install it on the powerpack and
use the same starting procedures to start the engine. Then
you must inspect the window on the filter.
If the window
on the filters shows green, continue with the ground hop
procedure. If the window shows any color other than green,
shut down the engine and replace the ground hop pressure
filter.
