To provide a path for the air and fuel to flow, push the
check valve (4) on the hose open (1)(fig. 1-28).
NOTE:
The engine will not start when you have set the number 7
to the OFF position; however, the fuel pumps will run (fig. 1-
28).
NOTE:
The lead soldier always tells the driver when and how to
operate the engine and transmission.
CAUTION
ONCE THE DRIVER HAS PRESSED THE PUSH-TO-START BUTTON, THE
NUMBER 7 CIRCUIT BREAKER IN THE HULL NETWORK DISTRIBUTION
BOX MUST BE SET TO THE OFF POSITION WITHIN FIVE SECONDS.
Open the cover (7) on the distribution box (6). Press the
PUSH-TO-START button (8) on the control panel (3) and then
release it (fig. 1-26).
When the engine starts to turn over, set the number 7
must be done within five seconds after pressing the PUSH-
TO-START button.)
Watch for a steady stream of fuel to come from the coupling
half (9). After a steady stream of fuel has started, close
the coupling half (fig. 1-28).
