l. Check the Operation of the Transmission's Neutral Gear and
Reverse.
If the transmission does not operate correctly, you must
troubleshoot the shift subsystem according to TM 9-2350-264-20-1.
Have the driver set the transmission shift control to N and
watch the two outputs (1) until they slow down to make sure
the transmission has returned to neutral (fig. 1-33).
Have the driver set the transmission shift control to R,
and inspect the two outputs (1) to make sure they turn in
the reverse direction (fig. 1-33).

m. Operate the Engine at Tactical Idle to Prepare for the Stall
Check.
Pullout the clevis (3) and hold it (fig. 1-32).
Have the driver set the transmission shift control to D,
and set the TACTICAL IDLE switch (5) on the control panel
(6) to the ON position.
You must let the engine run at
tactical idle for two minutes (fig. 1-34).
