CAUTION
Do not lean on or hang anything on the shaft (5).
Damage to the bearing or air seal may result.
Remove the old seal rings (2) and expander springs (1) from
the grooves (3) on the module.
Start by pushing the seal
rings in on the opposite side of the ring separation points.
As you push in on the rings, pull out the ends of the seal
rings and slide a piece of wire under each seal ring.
Then
slide the wire all around the seal rings and remove them.
After you removed the seal rings, you remove the expander
springs (1) by turning them until they raise above the grooves
(3) and removing them (fig 1-3).
Install new seals in rear module by placing the three springs
(1) in the grooves (3).
Then, you must position the seal
rings (2) in the grooves over the springs and snap the seal
rings in the grooves.
After you have installed the seal
rings, apply shortening compound to the seal rings and splines
(4) of the shaft (5) (fig. 1-3).
