Installing the Forward Engine Module.
NOTE:
This lesson describes the process for installing the forward
engine module with the accessory gearbox removed. To install
the forward engine module with the accessory gearbox attached,
refer to TM 9-2835-255-34.
The forward engine module installation
procedures
described
below
require a total of two people.
Prepare the Forward Module and Rear Module.
If you must
install the old module, it is not necessary to install a new
link (1) or plate (2). When you install a new module, install
a new link and plate (fig. 1-1).
Install the link (1) by aligning the hole in the mount (3)
with the hole in the link and install and secure the retaining
pin (4) with two new cotter pins (5).
Then, you align the
link with the hole in the bracket (8), and install and secure
the retaining pin (7) with the lockpin (6) (fig. 1-1).
If the link does not align with the bracket (4), move the link
(3) forward and remove the bolts (2), eye bracket (4), and
shim (1).
Then, you must apply antiseize compound to the
bolts, install the bracket (4), using a new shim (1), on the
rear module (5), and secure the bracket with the two bolts.
Next torque the bolts (2) between 250 - 325 inch-pounds.
Align the hole in the link (3)
