o Install the key (9) in the keyway of the pump shaft (10) and
insert the pump shaft in the shaft of the clutch (4), ensuring
the key engages the keyway of the clutch shaft. Install the pump
(5) on the support (8) with two screws and new lockwashers (7).
NOTE:
The next step only applies to vehicles 487 and above.
new seals (18 and 19) using sealant adhesive (Item 5, Appx. D, TM
9-2350-267-20) to bond the seals to the clutch (4) and cover
assembly (17). Close all holes and gaps with sealant.
When you assemble the pump, install and adjust the backup pump and clutch
assembly using the following process:

All items refer to Figure 35.
NOTE:
Depress V-belts midway between the engine pulley and sheave.
o Aline the V-belts by laying a straight edge on the face of the
engine pulley (1) and position the edge parallel to the outer V-
belt (2). Measure the distance between the straight edge and the
edge of the V-belts at points A and B. The distance at point B
must not differ more than 1/8 of an inch from the distance at
point A. To move the pump assembly (3) to the right, install the
required number of flat washers (4). To move the pump assembly
to the left, remove the required number of flat washers.
o Adjust the tension on the V-belts by loosening the nut (5) and
screw (6).
Move the pump assembly (3) forward to decrease V-
belts tension or back to increase tension.
Position the pump
assembly (3) so V-belts will depress 3/8 to 5/8 of an inch midway
between the engine pulley and pump sheave.
o Tighten the nut (5) and screw (6).

Components.
Prior to performing any maintenance on any of the components in this
compartment, the plenum box must be removed in accordance with TM 9-2350-
267-20.
