The second removal/installation process applies to the engine fire
extinguishers on vehicle series 345 and above.
Use Figure 20 to identify
the items referred to in the following removal/installation procedures.
For engine fire extinguishers no. 1 and no. 2, the bracket straps (Item 1)
are removed from the brackets (Items 10 and 33) by removal of two cotter
pins (Item 2), two flat washers (Item 3), and two straight pins (Item 4).
Take note that there are two straps per each cylinder bracket. Discard the
The procedures shown below apply to engine fire extinguisher no. 2.
o The cylinder bottle bracket (Item 10) must be removed from the
support (Item 11) and mount (Item 12). To accomplish this, remove
two screws (Item 13), two nuts (Item 14), and four lockwashers (Item
o Now remove the screw (Item 16), the lockwasher (Item 17), and the
flat washer (Item 18). Discard the removed lockwashers.
o Proceed to remove the support (Item 11) and the bracket (Item 19)
from the angle bracket (Item 32) by removing two screws (Item 20),
two lockwashers (Item 21), four flat washers (Item 22) and two nuts
NOTE:
When removing the shims (Item 28), be sure you record the number of
shims removed. The same amount of shims must be replaced during the
installation process.
o The support (Item 11) must now be removed from one bracket (Item 19)
by removing two screws (Item 24), two lockwashers (Item 25), four
flat washers (Item 26), two nuts (Item 27), and the shim(s) (Item
o Remove the screw (Item 29), flat washer (Item 30), lockwasher (Item
31), and the angle bracket (Item 32).
This step completes the
removal process for engine fire extinguisher no. 2.
You will now remove the cylinder bottle bracket and mount of engine fire
extinguisher no. 1.
Remember, the straps (Item 1) were removed at the
beginning of the removal process.
