The first removal/installation process will apply to the AFES cylinder
bottle bracket straps, brackets, and mounts used on vehicle series 1 through
344.
Use Figure 19 to identify the items referred to in the following
removal/installation procedures.
o The bracket straps (Item 10) are removed from the brackets (Items 1
and 2) by removal of the two cotter pins (Item 8), two flat washers
(Item 9), and two straight pins (Item 7) from engine extinguishers
NOTE:
There are two strap assemblies per cylinder bottle bracket.
o Removal of the bracket (Item 1) from the mount (Item 3) on engine
fire extinguisher no. 2 is the next step taken. To accomplish this,
remove four nuts (Item 14), four lockwashers (Item 13), eight flat
washers (Item 12), and four screws (Item 11).
Discard the
lockwashers after removal.
o Removal of the mount assembly (Item 3) for engine fire extinguisher
no. 2 can now be accomplished by removal of three screws (Item 6),
three lockwashers (Item 5), and three flat washers (Item 4).
Be
o The bracket (Item 2) for fire extinguisher no. 1 is the next item
for removal. This is accomplished by removing four screws (Item 15)
and four lockwashers (Item 16) which fasten the bracket to the mount
(Item 17).
Now remove the mount assembly from the bulkhead by
removing three screws (Item 20), three lockwashers (Item 19), and
three flat washers (Item 18).
Again, be sure to discard the old
lockwashers.
Inspect bracket and mount components. Correct any faults found and install
the brackets and mounts using the reverse procedure of removal.
For
installation of AFES cylinder bottles, follow the procedures provided in
paragraph 2.
