MAINTENANCE OF FORKLIFTS - OD1660 - LESSON 1/TASK 2
FIGURE 25.
VEHICLE LIGHTS SWITCH.
(d) When shifting from neutral to any speed range, the engine
should be at idle speed.
A shift to second or third speed forward
from the first speed forward can be made at full throttle, under
load.
Also, down shifting to first or second may be made at full
throttle, under load, providing the vehicle is not exceeding the
maximum speed attainable in the lower speed.
(e) Directional shifts can be made under full power and/or at
full speed conditions in the first speed forward to reverse, or
reverse to the first speed forward.
Shifts from reverse should be
made to first speed forward and not to second or third speed forward.
Direct shifts from reverse to second or third speed will adversely
affect the clutch life.
NOTE
When operating on soft sand at slow speeds (not
exceeding 10 mph), the tire inflation pressure
may be decreased to 30 psi for improved traction.
