MAINTENANCE OF FORKLIFTS - OD1660 - LESSON l/TASK 2
1 If the oil pressure indicator is lit and if the OIL PRESS
gage indication is abnormal, the engine should be turned off.
However, if the OIL PRESS gage indicates normal, operation can
continue and the indicator abnormal indication should be reported to
IDS maintenance.
2 If the alternator indicator light is lit (figure 23 on page
53), the engine should be turned off and the probable cause checked.
(i) The engine is operated at 1/3 throttle and the engine
should warm up for five minutes before applying a load.
If the
engine indicator lights, the operation is stopped and the engine
allowed to idle.
If the indicator is still on after five minutes,
the engine should be turned off and the probable cause checked.
Listed are the procedures the
operator should perform when starting the forklift (see figure 23 for
location of controls).
(a) The operator moves the LIFT control lever and raises the
forks no less than 12 inches from the ground.
He then places the
main switch lever on the VEHICLE LIGHTS switch (figure 25 on the
following page) to the STOP LIGHT position, depresses the brake
pedal, and releases the parking brake lever.
NOTE
If the vehicle doesn't move in the following
steps, push the AXLE DISCONNECT lever inward.
(b) Move the transmission direction selector to the desired
position and move the transmission speed selector to the desired
speed range.
(c) Release the brake pedal, depress
the
accelerator
as
required, and accelerate to the desired speed.
