MAINTENANCE OF FORKLIFTS - OD1660 - LESSON 1/TASK 1
2 Inspect the parts for wear, scored areas, scratches, nicks
and burrs.
Then the body of the cylinder should be inspected for
cracks and for distortion.
3 All defective parts should be replaced.
(d) The hydraulic lift cylinder is tested in the same manner as
the tilt cylinder (see paragraph 6d(1)(b), beginning on page 19).
NOTE
The hydraulic lift circuit has a holding and
hand frame.
This valve does not require any
maintenance, service or adjustment.
It is pre-
set at 3000 psi.
(4) Hydraulic Oscillating Cylinder.
(a) The oscillating hydraulic cylinder is of the double-acting
type and is activated by the control valve.
(b) This cylinder oscillates the forklift body and forks to the
right and to the left.
(c) The oscillating cylinders
are
mounted
between
the
front
right axle and the forklift frame.
(d) The oscillating cylinder also has a check valve (figure 9
on the following page).
This check valve is designed to hold the
machine stable during any type of operation. Should the check valve
malfunction, the machine will lean to the side when operating on a
slope.
The oscillating check valve is located on the front of the
forklift between the two automatic slack adjusters.
