(a) Cleaning and Inspecting.
1 Clean all metal parts thoroughly, using solvent P-D-680 or
equal.
The parts should be dried thoroughly.
2 The cylinders should be inspected for wear, scored areas,
scratches, nicks and burrs.
3 The
cylinders
should
also
be
inspected
for
cracks
and
distortion.
4 All defective parts should be replaced.
NOTE
Upon reassembly, use new packing.
The rod end
nut should be torqued between 170 to 180 ft-lbs.
(b) Test.
The hydraulic slave cylinder should be tested in a
similar manner to the hydraulic tilt cylinder, described in paragraph
6d(l)(b), beginning on page 19.
(3) Hydraulic Lift Cylinders.
(a) The hydraulic lift cylinders are of the double-acting two-
stage type. There are two cylinders, one mounted on each side of the
mast between the forklift frame and the mast.
(b) This cylinder is activated by the control valve and raises
and lowers the fork carriage.
They have fittings at the top for

When working on the lift cylinders or with the
mast raised, use supports to block the mast.
(c) Cleaning and Inspecting.
