M2/M3 BFV: TROUBLESHOOTING - OD1610 - LESSON 2/TASK 1
locates the troubleshooting procedures on page 3-348 of the TM.
After
locating the troubleshooting procedures, SGT Rhodes reads through the
Initial Setup section.
For this particular troubleshooting procedure, he
finds that he will need a STE-M1/FVS test set, a 45T10 assistant, and TMs
9-2350-252-10-1 and 9-2350-252-10-2. He also finds that the vehicle should
be parked with the engine off, turret power shut down, and all weapons
unloaded and safe.
When the necessary assistance, tools, and equipment have been gathered
together and the vehicle configured according to the procedures cited in the
troubleshooting procedures, SGT Rhodes closes and secures both the driver's
hatch cover and the cargo hatch cover.
When these two covers have been
closed and secured, he places the MASTER POWER and the TURRET POWER switches
to the ON position. With the power switches in the ON position, SGT Rhodes
installs the missile test container (MTC) into TOW missile tube 1 or missile
tube 2, following the procedures contained on page 3-429 of the TM. After
the MTC has been installed, SGT Rhodes places the MAG switch (3) (figure 22
on the following page) to the HIGH position. He then places the ARM-SAFE-
RESET switch first to the RESET and then to the SAFE position. Once this
has been done, he presses the TOW button (5) and waits 12 seconds; then he
presses the missile tube 1 (6) or missile tube 2 (7) button as appropriate.
He then checks that all the MTC switches (8) are set to ON. At this point,
he squeezes the trigger switches and waits 30 seconds for the test to
complete. He is then asked if all the MTC switches are still on.
Since the switches are not still on, SGT Rhodes follows the no arrow to the
next box of instructions. In the next box of instructions, he is directed
to place the ARM-SAFE-RESET switches to RESET and then to the SAFE position.
Upon completing this procedure, he is directed to remove the MTC and to
power down the turret.
With the turret powered down, he sets the MASTER
POWER switch to the OFF position and perform STE-M1/FVS test number 2720.
The procedures for performing these procedures are contained on page 3-476
of the TM.
