Step 2.
Apply grease to the output pinion gear and gun elevation sector gear.
With helper assistance, raise the front end of the gearbox and position the gearbox
clevis on the eyebolt.
Step 3.
Raise rear end of the gearbox and align the mounting surface with the
gear clevis. Install the rear support pin, and align the two mounting holes in the
rear support pin with the two holes in the clevis. Install two washers and screws
on the rear support pin and clevis and tighten the screws finger tight. Torque the
two screws to 20-25 in-lb (23-29 cmkg).
Step 4.
Torque the two screws on the front support pin to 20-25 in-lb (23-29
cmkg).
CAUTION
Make sure that the pinion gear and sector
gear
mesh
properly or the equipment can be damaged.
NOTE
The handwheel may need to be turned slightly to align the
gears. Be sure that the handwheel does not turn more than
1/4 turn.
Step 5.
Tighten the preload nut on the eyebolt until the gun elevation sector
gears begin to mesh.
Step 6.
Install the ground strap on the lower gearbox housing with two new
lockwashers and screws.
Step 7.
Install plug 2W302P4 on jack 2A202J2 (located on the lower gearbox) and
install plug 2W302P5 on jack 2A202J3 (located under the handwheel).
Step 8.
Install the rod end clevis, pin, washer, and new cotter pin on the
control lever, located on the traverse drive brake.
