(2) Troubleshooting the Malfunction:
ERRATIC SHIFT POINTS OR NO
DETENT DOWNSHIFTS.
Step 1. Check the transmission fluid level following the procedures
contained in Lubrication Order (LO) 9-2320-280-12.
Add fluid if
necessary.
Step 2. Check the adjustment of the kick-down switch. If necessary,
adjust the kick-down switch following the procedures contained in
paragraph 5-9, page 5-20 of the TM.
Step 3.
Check the operation of the kick-down switch.
First,
disconnect harness leads 315A and 315B from the switch.
Using a
multimeter, check for continuity at the switch leads while rotating
With the throttle lever in
the idle or no-load position, the switch should be open (no
continuity).
With the throttle lever in the full fuel or wide-open
throttle position, the switch should be closed (continuity). If the
switch does not test correctly, replace the switch following the
procedures contained in paragraph 5-9, page 5-20 of the TM.
Step 4.
Replace the transmission oil filter.
The procedures for
replacing the transmission oil filter can be found in paragraph 5-2,
page 5-2 of the TM.
Step 5.
If the cause of the malfunction
has
still
not
been
determined, notify IDS maintenance.

Transfer Case.
(1) Troubleshooting the Malfunction:
TRANSFER CASE DIFFICULT TO
SHIFT.
Step 1.
Check the transfer case shift linkage for improper
adjustment or damage which would interfere with operation. Adjust or
replace the shift rod following the procedures contained in paragraph
5-13, page 5-26 of the TM. If other components are damaged, notify
IDS/IGS maintenance.
Step 2.
Check the transfer case fluid level, referring to LO 9-2320-
280-12.
Add fluid if necessary.
