G/VLLD.
a. Vehicle Power Cable. The G/VLLD operates without the battery by
using power supplied by the vehicle.
Power comes from the vehicle
The vehicle power cable mates with the vehicle adapter cable to fit on
the exterior of most military vehicles.

b. Digital Message Device (DMD).
The DMD AN/PSG-2 is a portable
two-way communication terminal.
Field artillery forward observers use
the DMD to send and receive information to the Tactical Fire Direction
radios. The DMD operates across the entire environmental range of the
G/VLLD. The 56-character keyboard and the display allow the operator to
enter and edit the message before transmitting, and to view incoming
messages. Figure 1-7 shows the DMD.
c. Equipment Set AN/UAS-12. The equipment set AN/UAS-12 used with
the G/VLLD provides 24-hour-a-day effectiveness. It allows the G/VLLD to
locate and designate targets in total darkness and/or in poor visibility
conditions.
The equipment set AN/UAS-12 includes the following
components (see figure 1-8):
