Then the forklift control lever should be pulled, back to raise the
forks just high enough to clear the surf.
(2) At this point, the drive selector lever (located to the rear
of the parking brake) is placed in the four wheel drive position.
The parking brakes are then released and the service brakes are
applied to prevent the vehicle from moving.
NOTE
Before the operator begins fording with the 6000
lb forklift, he should ensure that the parking
brake is released.
(3) The transmission range control lever is placed in the desired
position.
Normally a low-speed position is required for surf
operations. The operator then places the FWD-NEUT-REV control lever
in position for the desired direction of travel.
