lockwashers. Discard the lockwashers.

Step 5.

Remove the gearbox from the turret by removing three screws, washers,

and adjustable washers.

Remove the gearbox from the turret with helper's

assistance.

Procedural Steps for Installation of the Traverse Drive Gearbox. Four final

procedures are needed to complete the installation of the traverse drive gearbox.

These procedures are described in subparagraphs 2c(2) through 2c(5) below.

Installation of the Traverse Drive Gearbox.

Step 1.

Loosen the drive gear shield by loosening two screws and sliding the

drive gear shield toward the turret wall.

Step 2.

Apply grease to the ring gear, which is below the drive gear shield.

Step 3.

Release spring retainer tension on the new gearbox by loosening four

screws alternately 1/2 inch.

Step 4.

Apply grease to the output pinion gears located under the gearbox.

Step 5.

Install three new rings in front of the gearbox.

Tighten the three

rings until they sit just below the surface of the gearbox. Install three sleeve

bushings in the rear of the gearbox. Tighten the three sleeve bushings until their

faces are flush with the gearbox surface, and the straight sides are vertical.

Step 6.

Adjust the traverse drive manual firing switch.

CAUTION

Misalignment of the gear teeth can damage the gears.
