NOTE
Sleeve bushings must align with the vertical slots in the
turret wall. Sleeve bushings will not be flush against the
turret wall if the gear teeth are out of mesh.
Step 7.
Install the gearbox on the turret with helper assistance.
Push the
lever on top of the gearbox toward the turret wall. Turn the handwheel as needed
to align the gear teeth.
Install three new adjustable washers, flatwashers, and
screws in the gearbox, and to the turret.
WARNING
Accidental firing of the 25mm gun could kill or injure
soldiers. Jack rotation could allow the 25mm gun to fire.
Do not turn switch jack J1 when installing the plug on the
gearbox.
Step 8.
Install plug 2W307P1, located below the gearbox, onto jack 2A201J1.
Step 9.
ft-lb (12-13 mkg).
Step 10.
Tighten spring retainer tension on
the
gearbox
by
tightening
and
torquing four screws to 65-75 in-lb (75-86 cmkg).
Step 11.
Adjust the traverse drive pinion gear backlash.
These procedures, when
needed, can be found on page 7-97 of TM 9-2350-252-20-2-2.
Step 12.
Install the ground strap
on
the
gearbox
by
installing
two
new
lockwashers and screw on the gearbox.
Step 13.
Install plug 2W307P3, located on top of the gearbox, onto jack 2A201J3.
Step 14.
Tighten the drive gear shield by positioning the drive gear shield as
close to the gearbox as possible, then tighten the two screws on the drive gear
shield.
