M2/M3 BFV: FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM - OD1608 - LESSON 1/TASK 5
(13) Now, release the turret travel lock (TM 9-2350-252-10-2,
page 2-141).
WARNING
Fast
motion
of
the
TOW
launcher
during
boresighting could cause injury.
Make sure that
the TOW launcher and turret are in the MANUAL
mode.
Move the TOW launcher very slowly during
boresighting.
CAUTION
the TOW ELEVATION DRIVE SELECT lever and the GUN
ELEVATION DRIVE SELECT lever in the MANUAL
position will break the linkage. Ensure the GUN
ELEVATION DRIVE SELECT lever is in the POWER
position
before
manually
operating
the
TOW
launcher.
(14) Align the azimuth crosshair (figure 38 on the following
page) of the TOW reticle on the aiming point of the target. Manually
traverse the turret as required to accomplish this alignment.
(15) Look into the eyepiece of the boresight telescope and move
the vernier focus dial (figure 39 on the following page) up or down
and rotate the eyepiece to focus the boresight telescope on target.
(16) Check the alignment of the boresight telescope reticle on
the aiming point.
If the azimuth crosshair of the boresight
telescope reticle aligns on the aiming point, the TOW launcher is
boresighted in azimuth.
If the azimuth crosshair of the boresight
reticle does not align on the aiming point of the target, azimuth
alignment must be achieved using this procedure:
(a) Loosen the eight TOW launcher mounting screws (figure 40
on page 49) using a socket wrench, extension, and handle.
