Steering System Maintenance
a.
General.
The steering system maintenance tasks described in
this paragraph are used by unit maintenance to repair and replace
steering control components.
The steering system repair and
replacement tasks that will be covered in this task are:
(1) Repair steering control link and bellcrank assembly.
(2) Replace steering shaft assembly.
(3) Replace steering control support bearing.
(4) Replace steering yoke assembly.
b.
Repair Steering Control Link and Bellcrank Assembly. This task
will cover the removal and installation procedures for the steering
control link and bellcrank assembly.
(1) Initial Setup.
(a) Tools. General mechanic's tool kit: automotive, 3/8 inch
drive socket wrench set, and 3/8 inch drive, 0 - 600 in-lb torque
wrench.
(b) Materials/Parts.
Two
self-locking
nuts
and
three
key
washers.
(c) Personnel
Required.
