example, the notation "(Item 8, Appendix C)"
following the
name of a supply item indicates you can find the description of
the item on the list of expendable items, appendix C, under
item 8.
Special Conditions.
Chapter 4 shows special conditions, such as
step starts.
The most common note regarding special conditions
occurs in the procedures when you have the transmission mounted on
the maintenance stand.
Preliminary
Procedures.
Chapter
4
identifies
preliminary
procedures on the setup page as tasks you do before you can perform
the maintenance procedure you are about to start.
Usually,
PRELIMINARY PROCEDURES show only one procedure that you must
accomplish before you start the maintenance task.
However, when
you go back to the task shown, you may find another preliminary
procedure in that task.
This arrangement of cross-referencing
tasks with preliminary tasks continues in sequence until you get
back to the first task required.
Follow-on Procedures. Here the TM lists additional procedures that
you must accomplish after you have completed the assigned task.
For example, after each removal task the TM gives the equivalent
installation task by identifying the paragraph number, name, and
task number.
Repairable Parts.
If you have removed a repairable part, the TM
gives the reference for the repair procedure below the removal
procedure.
This reference directs you to the paragraph number,
name, and task number where you find the repair instructions.
Final Adjustments and Preparation for Storage or Shipment (chapter
5).
After you have repaired the transmission, you must make the
preliminary brake adjustment using a torque wrench, before placing
the transmission in the container.
This chapter of the TM also
provides the procedures by which you install the transmission in
the container in preparation for storage or shipment.
reference list of other manuals or publications that may provide
