b. Remove the Engine Step Plate (perform this step only if the
plate does not have two cutouts)(2)(fig. 1-3). To remove the engine
step plate, remove the two screws (4) and lockwashers (5); lift and
remove the plate (1).

c. Open the Left and Right Side Mudguards.
To open the side
mudguards, you must use pliers to remove the cotter pin from the hole
in the pin, remove the pin, and swing open the mudguards (fig. 1-4).
d. Disconnect the Left and Right Final Drives.
Prior to
disconnecting the final drives, you must place blocks (2) under the
front and rear of each track (1) and set the parking brake (fig. 1-
5).
You disconnect both of the tank's final drives using the same
procedures given below.
When you finish disconnecting one side,
simply start at the beginning of the procedures to disconnect the
other final drive.
