Establishing the Correct Equipment Conditions.
To establish the correct equipment conditions, you must remove or
disconnect other components or parts that interfere with the removal
of the powerpack.
The following paragraphs describe the items you
must remove or disconnect prior to removing the powerpack.
a. Remove the Top Deck and Grilles. The procedures to remove the
top deck and grilles require three personnel. Before you can remove
the top deck and grilles, you must perform the following tasks
according to TM 9-2350-264-10:
Transverse and lock the turret with the main gun over the
left side of the tank.
Remove the engine access cover.
Open the battery covers, both precleaner doors, and top
deck left and right grille doors.
Prior to removing the top deck and grilles, you must open the rear
metal grilles by loosening the two screws (2) at the lower inner
corner of the grilles (1) and lifting the hooks (3) from the screw
heads (fig. 1-l).
Since you are removing the top deck and grilles to remove the
powerpack, you must level the tank (TM 9-2350-264-10).
Remove the
top deck and grilles using the procedures described below:
Loosen the six screws on the top deck and turn the hooks
from under the screws.
