Working under the vehicle, check and clean the starter connections 6A
and 7A. Now, check for frayed or worn insulation on battery cables.
Repair or replace worn battery cables following the procedures in
paragraph 4-53, page 4-84 of the TM.
Check battery clamps for
missing parts or corrosion.
Clean or replace the battery clamps
following the procedures in paragraph 4-52, page 4-82 of the TM.
Check for continuity on all battery cables.
If continuity is not
present, replace the battery cables following the procedures in
paragraph 4-53, page 4-84 of the TM.
Now, install and secure all
battery cables.
Check lead 81A at the starter for battery voltage.
If battery
voltage is not present, repair the engine wiring harness following
the procedures in paragraph 4-62, page 4-110 of the TM.
If the
wiring harness is beyond repair, notify IDS/IGS maintenance.
WARNING
The negative battery cable must be disconnected
before
disconnecting
any
harness
from
the
protective control box, or injury to personnel
and/or damage to equipment may result.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and disconnect the protective
control box cannon plugs, then reconnect the negative battery cable.
Check for voltage at pin E of the engine wiring harness protective
control box cannon plug.
If voltage is not present, repair the
engine wiring harness following the procedures in paragraph 4-62,
page 4-110 of the TM.
If the wiring harness is not repairable,
notify IDS/IGS maintenance. If voltage is present, check lead 11A at
the rotary switch to the body harness protective control box cannon
plug pin G, and the light switch cannon plug pin F to the body
harness protective control box pin F.
If continuity is present,
replace the protective control box following the procedures contained
in paragraph 4-5, page 4-12 of the TM. If no continuity is present,
repair the body wiring harness following the procedures in paragraph
4-62, page 4-110 of the TM.
