the battery voltage by connecting the multimeter leads to the
positive power stud and the ground cable in the battery box. If the
battery voltage is greater than 28.2 Volts, adjust the alternator
following the procedures in paragraph 4-2, page 4-6 of the TM.
If
the battery voltage is less than 27.8 Volts, check for loose or
broken drivebelts.
If the belts are loose or broken, adjust or
replace them following the procedures in paragraphs 3-74 and 3-76,
pages 3-122 and 3-126 of the TM.
Now repeat step 1 and check the
battery voltage. If the battery voltage is still too low, adjust the
alternator following procedures contained in paragraph 4-2, page 4-2
of the TM.
If the battery voltage is between 27.8 and 28.2 Volts,
check the operation of the voltmeter gage (refer to malfunction 15 on
page 2-40 of the TM).
