Each malfunction symptom given for an individual component or system
is followed by step(s) that should be followed to determine the cause
and corrective action necessary to remedy the problem. Again, before
taking any action to correct a possible malfunction, the mechanic
should follow the same troubleshooting rules that were given in the
previous task on page 24.
In this task, the procedures used to actually troubleshoot the
electrical system will be discussed. There are twenty-four possible
malfunctions that could be troubleshot for the entire HMMWV
electrical system.
However, we will only cover five of these.
It
should be noted that throughout the procedures, we will cover each
step or pathway of these malfunctions.
For the sake of this
subcourse, the reference "the TM" will refer to TM 9-2320-280-20,
unless otherwise stated.

In these paragraphs, we will
cover both of the possible malfunctions that could be encountered in
this system.
Troubleshooting the Malfunction:
BATTERIES NOT CHARGING PROPERLY
(VOLTMETER IN RED OR YELLOW). While reading through this text, refer
to figure 2 on page 46.

replaced, instead of attempting to adjust
