(c) Install the safety pin in the pilot valve.
Secure the
safety pin using a new lock wire.
CAUTION
If the turret is traversed when the antirecoil
plug is installed in the turret fire bottle, the
turret can hit the antirecoil plug.
Take care
when traversing the turret so that the turret
does not hit the antirecoil plug.
(7) Manually traverse the turret to 6400 mils.
b. Activating the System.
After maintenance that has required
that the fire suppression system be deactivated, the system must be
activated again. The following steps should be used to activate the
system:
NOTE
After removal from the fire bottles, both safety
pins must be retained, to be used whenever the
fire bottles are to be deactivated.
(1) Manually traverse the turret to 5600 mils.
(2) Remove the safety pin and the antirecoil plug (refer to
figure 11 on the previous page) from the turret fire bottle by
following these steps:
(a) Remove the lock wire from the safety pin. Discard the
lock wire.
(b) Remove the safety pin from the pilot valve.
(c) Remove the antirecoil plug from the fire bottle valve.
(d) Stow the antirecoil plug in the storage hole.
(3) Manually traverse the turret to 6400 mils.
(4) Remove the safety pin and antirecoil plug (refer to figure
10 on page 12) from the hull fire bottle using these steps:
