retainer, two washers, and screws on the rack.
Next, install the
four plugs on the four plugs exactly opposite of the way in which
they were removed.
Now, install the battery compartment cover by positioning the cover
over the battery compartment.
Secure the cover by latching the
latches. Install the vehicle ground cable. To reinstall the vehicle
ground cable, install lead 1W14 and the other lead to the negative
terminal clamp on battery number three.
Secure the cable with the
screw and nut. Now install the other lead on the negative terminal
clamp on battery number one and secure with the screw and nut. Then
install lead 1W16E2 to the vehicle ground 1E1 by removing the tape
and installing the lead with a washer, new lock washer and a new lock
screw.
Finally, unstow the driver's seat and squad seat number four (if
installed), and place the FIRE SUPPRESSION switch in the AUTO
position. This completes the procedures for installing the batteries
in the M2/M3.
In the next paragraphs, the procedures for removing
and reinstalling the do generator will be discussed.
b.
DC Generator. To remove the do generator, lower and secure the
trim vane by first pulling the strap and releasing the trim vane
latch (figure 6 on the following page).
Carefully lower the trim
vane.
When the trim vane has been lowered, stand on the trim vane
and push the trim vane latch forward (figure 7 on the following
page).
Then open and secure the power unit access door by unlocking and
removing the padlock from the handle (figure 8 on page 12). Turn the
handle slightly, and stow the padlock on the bracket.
Turn the
handle to the right, and raise the power unit access door.
Remove
the free end of the door brace from the clip. Place the end of the
door brace in the hole in the door frame.
Now remove the vehicle
ground cable following the procedures that were outlined in paragraph
4a on page 5 of this task. Once the vehicle ground cable is removed,
remove plug 3W4P1 (1) (figure 9 on page 12) from jack 3A2G1J1 on the
generator. Be sure to use electrical connector pliers to remove the
plug.
After the plug is removed, tag it and the jack.
This will
help to prevent confusion and aid in reinstalling the plug.
