Figure 1-3.
G/VLLD Set, M113A1 Mounted.
c. Tripod (see figure 1-4C).
The tripod provides a stable level
platform for the TU and the LD/R in the ground mode. The tripod adjusts to
accommodate terrain slopes up to 20€. The tripod has a mounting flange for
attaching the TU.
d. Battery (see figure 1-4D).
The battery (BB 704/U) for the G/VLLD
provides a 24 VDC portable power source for field operation.
It is a
rechargeable nickel-cadmium (NICAD) cell.
You replace the battery
externally to the LD/R and recharge it in the field using the battery
charger PP-7286/U.
e. LD/R Backpack. The LD/R backpack provides protective cover for the
LD/R with the battery installed. Use the backpack for storage and for field
(short distance) transportation.
The LD/R backpack also provides storage
for a lens cleaning kit used to clean the LD/R external optics.
f. Tripod/TU Backpack.
The tripod/TU backpack provides protective
cover for the tripod and the TU.
It provides storage and field
transportation, and for the evacuation to the direct support unit for
repair. The backpack also stores a spare battery.
The G/VLLD is transportable, in the two backpack assemblies, by two men
afoot (if used, the night sight requires an additional man), or by the
vehicle.
One man operates the G/VLLD from either a kneeling or sitting
position.
The G/VLLD comes with an ancillary equipment transit assembly case that
contains equipment to support G/VLLD operations.
The ancillary equipment
transit assembly case provides storage for three spare batteries, an
attenuator filter assembly, a laser inhibit plug, a night sight mount, and a
protective shroud.
