b. Digital Message Device (DMD). The DMD AN/PSG-2 is a portable two-
way communication terminal. Field artillery forward observers use the DMD
to send and receive information to the Tactical Fire Direction System
(TACFIRE) and other DMDs through standard Army communications radios. The
DMD operates across the entire environmental range of the G/VLLD. The 56-
character keyboard and the display allow the operator to enter and edit the
message before transmitting, and to view incoming messages.
