Step 4.
One axle and the wheels should be raised from the ground.
He then removes both wheel axle shafts, hub, and the drum assemblies
and checks the wheel cylinders for leaks or a sticking piston.
He
follows the same procedures for the other axle and wheels.
Step 5.
If the wheel cylinder is leaking or the piston is sticking,
the wheel cylinder should be replaced.
Step 6.
The brake linings should be checked for uneven wear, glaze,
brake fluid or lubricant contamination, or excessive dust. If any of
these conditions exist, the brake linings should be replaced.
Step 7.
The hub and drum assemblies should be checked for scored or
cracked conditions.
If any of these conditions exist, the brake
drums should be replaced.
Step 8.
The brake shoe mounting hardware should be checked for
loose or missing components or damage. All missing or damaged brake
shoe mounting hardware should be replaced and new hardware installed
if they are missing.
Step 9.
After corrective action has been taken, test operate to
make sure that the problem has been solved.
(3) Troubleshooting the Malfunction:
ENGINE STARTS BUT WILL NOT
RUN.
When troubleshooting for this symptom, the mechanic should
follow these steps:
Step 1.
Check to see if the air cleaner red flag is in view. If it
is in view, the reset button on top of the indicator should be
depressed and viewed to see if the red flag disappears. If the red
flag does not disappear from view, replace the air cleaner indicator.
Crank the engine and check to see if the red flag is in view. If it
is not in view, service the air cleaner.
Step 2.
Check to see if there is fuel in the fuel tank. If there
is no fuel in the tank, fill the tank. If there is fuel in the tank,
