M2/M3 BFV: FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM - OD1608 - LESSON 2/TASK 2
(1) Testing Wiring Harness 2W201. The first suspect component
is wiring harness 2W201. To see if wiring harness 2W201 is good, two
tests are run:
(a) Perform test 2390 between plug 2W201P1 and jack 2W201J1
at the diagnostic panel jack 2.
If the test shows that wiring
harness 2W201 is not good, replace the wiring harness following the
procedures in TM 9-2350-252-20-2-3, page 24-31.
(b) If wiring harness 2W201 tests good during test 2390,
perform test 2391 on jack 2W201J1 at the diagnostic panel jack J2.
If the test shows that wiring harness 2W201 is not good, replace the
wiring harness following the procedures in TM 9-2350-252-20-2-3, page
24-31.
(c) If no faults are found in wiring harness 2W201 during
tests 2390 and 2391, the problem could be a loose connection.
Therefore, the next step is to check various connections for
tightness.
(2) Inspecting Connections for Tightness.
Before starting an
inspection for the tightness of connections, turn the MASTER POWER
switch OFF and the TURRET POWER switch OFF. Then make the following
checks:
(a) Check connections 2W103P4 at 2A1001J3, 2W103P3 at 2A1001J2,
and 2W10P1 at 2A100J1 (figure 57 on the following page). Tighten any
connection not found to be already tight during this inspection. If
all connections were tight, continue testing.
(b) To make the next connection check, remove the right turret
floor plate (TM 9-2350-252-20-2-2, page 4-22) to access the vehicle
distribution box connections. Check connections 2W5P5 at jack 2A1J14
and 2Wl01P4 at 2A1J5 (figure 58 on the following page).
Tighten
either of these connections if required.
If both connections were
tight, continue testing.
(c) Next, check connection 2W5P2 at 2A5J1 at the TOW control
box (figure 59 on page 91). Tighten the connection if it is loose.
If it is not loose, continue testing.
