provides troubleshooting procedures, identifies safety precautions
and repair parts, and describes the way a system operates. You must
be familiar with every part of this manual before beginning any
troubleshooting or maintenance procedures.
It is particularly
important for you to understand the contents of chapter 3, General
Maintenance Instructions, before doing any work on this transmission.
Before you begin any maintenance procedure, make sure you are
familiar with the entire maintenance task.
TM 9-2520-272-34&P is the reference you must use when performing
Direct or General Support maintenance on the X200-4 cross-drive
transmission.
It is also a good practice to check the data plate
affixed to the transmission to determine when the transmission was
last overhauled and if any modifications have been applied to the
transmission.
Modifications are made by application of a Modification Work Order
(MWO); once the MWO is applied, the number of the MWO and the date
accomplished are stamped into the data plate.
If the transmission
was overhauled, the data plate will also provide the initials of the
overhauling facility and the date of overhaul.
Figure 1-2 provides
an illustration of and the location of the data plate.
