Lockup Clutch Cutoff Valves.
i. Converter Bypass Valve (fig. 1-24).
Located in the input
module, this valve contains a calibrated spring and pin in a bore.
During normal operation, the converter bypass valve acts as a
regulator valve controlling the oil flow to the converter.
Increasing pressure on the left end of the valve (either by
converter-in pressure or lockup clutch apply pressure) moves the
valve to the right and allows converter-in oil to bypass the torque
converter. Lube oil pressure directed to the right end of the valve
helps stabilize the movement of the valve.
