MAINTENANCE OF M939 SERIES VEHICLES - OD1661 - LESSON 1/TASK 2
FIGURE 25.
METER CONNECTION TO CIRCUIT
570 OF THE ETHER VALVE.
Step 1. First, SGT Ritz checks the ether cylinder to ensure that it
contains ether. To do this SGT Ritz removes the ether cylinder from
the ether valve, shakes the cylinder, and listens for liquid
splashing inside.
Since the cylinder appears to be full, SGT-Ritz
will proceed to the next troubleshooting step.
Step 2.
In this step SGT Ritz checks the ether start system power
source.
To check the ether start system power source, SGT Ritz
operates the personnel heater blower motor with the switch in the
HIGH position.
Since the blower motor does operate, SGT Ritz will
proceed to step 3 and test circuit 570 for voltage at the ether
valve.
Step 3.
To test circuit 570 for voltage at the ether valve, SGT
Ritz first disconnects circuit 570 from the ether valve (figure 25).
He then sets the multimeter to 50 volts and connects the positive
