M2/M3 BFV: TROUBLESHOOTING - OD1610 - LESSON 2/TASK 1
Now that a knowledge of the components and operation of the turret systems
has been gained, let's cover the actual troubleshooting procedures for the
turret systems on the BFV.
3.
Simplified Test Equipment-M1/Fighting Vehicle System (STE-M1/FVS) Test
Set.
The simplified test equipment-M1/fighting vehicle system (STE-M1/FVS) test
set is a sophisticated piece of diagnostic test equipment. The STE-M1/FVS
test set is a valuable tool for testing components of the various systems
that comprise the Bradley fighting vehicle.
In the troubleshooting
procedures for the hull (the troubleshooting examples in paragraph 4c of
lesson one/task one beginning on page 10), we used the simplified test
equipment-M1/fighting vehicle system (STE-M1/FVS) vehicle test meter (VTM)
to perform some of the test procedures. In the troubleshooting procedures
for the turret, we will be using the entire STE-M1/FVS test set.
The STE-M1/FVS test set is primarily used to troubleshoot malfunctions that
Therefore, an
understanding of how to set up and use the STE-M1/FVS test set is required
in order to troubleshoot the malfunctions that occur in the turret.
This
paragraph introduces the components of the STE-M1/FVS test equipment.
It
also describes the procedures for hooking up the STE-M1/FVS to the BFV, and
for performing the self-test which is required before the test set can be
used for vehicle testing.
a. Simplified Test Equipment-M1/Fighting Vehicle System (STE-M1/FVS)
Test Set.
An understanding of how to set up and use the STE-M1/FVS is
required in order to perform the turret troubleshooting procedures contained
in this subcourse, and in TM 9-2350-252-20-2-1.
In these paragraphs, the components of the STE-M1/FVS test set will be
introduced. They will also describe the procedures for hooking up the STE-
M1/FVS to the BFV and for performing the self-tests which are required
before the test set can be used for vehicle testing.
